Gene Lamanilao, MD (he/him), is a PGY-3 resident in Radiation Oncology at the University of California San Diego. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Rhodes College and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. During medical school, he was awarded the Alpha Omega Alpha Carolyn L. Kuckein Research Fellowship, which supported research in Transplant Surgery and Surgical Oncology and introduced him to mentors that ultimately led him to the field of Radiation Oncology. His current academic interests focus on using novel radiotherapy modalities to personalize cancer treatment and improve patient outcomes. He is also interested in developing strategies that increase access to advanced radiation therapy for diverse patient populations. Through clinical training and research, Dr. Lamanilao aims to integrate innovative technologies and evidence-based approaches into oncologic care, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to advance precision medicine and improve the quality and equity of cancer treatment.
