Dr. Guang-Pei Chen, PhD is an Associate Professor and Clinical Director of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He earned his PhD in Physics from Tsinghua University (1994), then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in medical physics at MCW in 2005–2006. He is certified in Therapeutic Radiology Physics by the American Board of Radiology (2010).


Dr. Chen’s career has centered on clinical innovation and patient safety—initially working as a staff physicist at MCW (2006–2014), and since 2014, overseeing clinical physics operations at MCW. His research focuses on advanced technologies in IMRT, IGRT, motion tracking, and adaptive workflows, with significant contributions to the integration of real-time MLC/jaw tracking in helical TomoTherapy.
