Kenneth Pitter, MD, PhD
Dr. Kenneth Pitter is an attending physician and Assistant Professior at The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the faculty at OSU he completed his MD/PhD training at the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD program in New York City with a focus on genetically engineered mouse models of cancer, glioma stem cells, and radiation resistance. He completed his clinical training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and completed a Holman Pathway Fellowship. At OSU his clinical focus is on the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, and his laboratory focuses on leveraging genetically engineered mouse models to better understand radiation resistance in pancreatic cancer. The lab’s overarching hypothesis is that not all cancer cells are created equal – some cells are inherently more resistant to radiation. We aim to understand the signaling pathways that drive resistant phenotypes with the goal of better understanding pancreatic cancer biology and targeting those pathways to develop novel therapies that sensitize pancreatic cancer to radiation.
