Dr. Petria S. Thompson is a PGY-5 resident in Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. She earned her MD and PhD in Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University and a BA in Chemistry from Emory University. Her research bridges translational cancer biology and medical education, with current projects focused on CDK2-targeted therapies in breast cancer, spatial profiling of tumor recurrence, and BOOST, an AI-powered chatbot to support resident learning.
She has been recognized with the Breast Cancer Alliance Young Investigator Award, an ImmunoX Co-Project Award, and the UCSF Innovations in Education Award. A member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, she has published in leading journals including Cell and Nature Structural & Molecular Biology.
At ASTRO 2025, Dr. Thompson will present work on patient-facing anal cancer sexual health guidelines and predictors of survival in mucoepidermoid carcinoma.
