Stacey Krepel, BS
Stacey Krepel is an MD-PhD student at KUMC, and she is currently in the PhD phase of her training. Her undergraduate degree is in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where she also worked as a chemistry tutor and an undergraduate researcher for more than three years. While there, she was awarded multiple undergraduate research grants, as well as awards for her success as a tutor. She also worked for three and a half years as a post-baccalaureate researcher at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, Maryland before being accepted to the KUMC MD-PhD program. Her current research in the Saha lab focuses on studying treatments that have the capacity to radiosensitize pancreatic tumors while conversely confer protection to healthy gastrointestinal stem cells against radiation damage. Her future career goals involve combining research with clinical practice, likely either in the field of hematology-oncology or gastrointestinal cancers.
