Dr. Stella Lymberis received her BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, prior to her medical studies. With more than 20 years experience in radiation oncology, she is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Director of Quality Initiatives and Gynecologic Oncology DMG Co-Lead. Her clinical specialty is the treatment of gynecologic cancer, brachytherapy, palliative care and cosmetic radiation therapy. She also serves as the GYN Education Committee Chair for the American Brachytherapy Society.


She has led clinical research along with gynecologic oncology and involving QA improvement and patient experience in gynecologic brachytherapy, evaluating dosimetry of brachytherapy applicators used in brachytherapy, and incorporating MRI planning in cervical brachytherapy treatment planning.


Dr. Lymberis has expanded the intracavitary and interstitial program for GYN Brachytherapy at NYU, incorporating MRI imaging into planning for all cervical cancer brachytherapy patients enabling access to MRI imaging even to undocumented or uninsured patients. Dr. Lymberis extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams: 1) coordinated educational and hands on seminars, 2) streamlined operative procedures with surgeons, physicists and nurses to standardize the NYU Langone Medical Center gynecologic brachytherapy inpatient and outpatient program and 3) designed and incorporated imaging protocols into gynecologic brachytherapy planning workflows.
